[RC] pawing caution and waterdog horses - Julie FullerAbout the recycled bathtubs with faucets:Years ago a friend of mine had a wonderful Percheron gelding. He wasn't one of those huge guys, but stood 15.3 and weighed abut 1600, and she kept him on two acres in a rural/suburban neighborhood. One day she was doing dishes and looked out the window to see Prince lift his head AND the bathtub! He'd caught his halter on the faucet! She said he shook it back and forth a few times, then it went flying! Sheesh! I'd have hated to be standing in the way! And yeah, she wasn't smart for having the halter on him... but he was an escape artist. Which leads to..... The time she came home from work to see Prince tied to the front porch with a hay string. He'd been roaming the neighborhood, eating rose bushes. As for waterdogs, I have a pony who is part Lab. She will literally dive into water over her head and go swimming. She loves to play in the water, but rarely drinks on rides. I think she hydrates through osmosis. It must work though... she is 34 this year, and still hell on wheels.
