[RC] Need hay recommendations - Maryanne GabbaniI'm in heaven. The son of some good friends of mine wants to grow hay and is going to Europe planning to get some seed. I told him that I would ask some knowledgeable people for recommended types for this climate. I would say that we are like Arizona or something. Never gets that cold in the winter, maybe in the 40's at night. Water is by irrigation. The deal is that I give him the kind to grow and I'm at the top of his list of clients. So please, anyone who knows about hay types or where to find the information, I would really appreciate help. This will be the first real hay grown here...well, not exactly, someone is manufacturing alfalfa cubes that look pretty good but I've been told that they really make the horses hot. The next good news is that my young horse feed entrepreneur has found a local source of beet pulp. We are having some analysed to check the quality, but hopefully it will be good. I'm really excited.
