Re: [RC] road riding- crazy drivers/ crazy rider :) - Winter, Randy or CherylThis is amazing to me. After contacting the Colorado State Patrol and getting the response from a State Patrol Officer that horses must ride on the right, I asked for the statute, this is what they sent me. Dear Mr. Winter, Under Colorado State Law: 42-4-1-9. Motorized bicycles, animals, skies, skates, and toy vehicles on highways. (8) Persons riding or leading animals on or along any highway shall ride or lead such animals on the left side of said highway, facing approaching traffic. This shall not apply to persons driving herds of animals along highways. Definition of "Highway" means the entire width between the boundary lines of every way publicly maintained when any part thereof is open to the use of the public for purposes of vehicular travel or the entire width of every way declared to be a public high way by any law of this state. This DOES merit some further investigation here locally and nationally. What would happen if you were hit by a car while riding and the driver was injured. You could be at fault if you were not following the law. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse and it seems even officers are ignorant of this law. Would someone else please investigate this where they live.
