[RC] Hey One Tonners - Anita MessengerWe have a one ton Ford VAN that we use to pull our 17' 4 horse bumper pull steel stock trailer, and we love it. It's not a dually, but it could be made into one. We haven't seen a need to do that. This van has a 460 gas engine in it, and the roof goes up for more head room. I can stand straight up in it. We have a queen sized bed in the back with storage underneath, and it's so nice. We take out the two passenger seats in the middle, and just leave the two front seats so we have more room for ice chest, etc. One person can sleep very comfortably or make lunch while the other drives. Our gas mileage is about 10 mpg. Not the greatest, but the savings we get in no motel room bills, etc. when we are traveling counterbalances that. Over the years we have had the blessing to be able to deliver to their new homes a lot of the horses we've sold - as far away as Massachusettes and Arizona (from Arkansas), plus trail riding in other states so we've done a good bunch of fairly long distance hauling/traveling. We very much enjoy our van, and it handles the trailer very well. We buy our tires at Walmart and get their road warranty thingy - that has come in handy several times. We can usually find a 24-hour Supercenter where we can get our tire situation taken care of.
