[RC] Helmets..... one more - Kristene SmutsI almost forgot my own little helmetless experience (see what it does to you?). I was about 9 and fooling around on my mare before going to do my chores. It was Christmas eve and I was galloping around the paddock, no saddle, bridle or helmet when I thought the mare was going to do another lap around but she then decided she'd had enough. I came off and slammed my head into the corner paddock pole - a sturdy 20cm piece of wood. I woke up about 10 days later, with a nurse sitting next to me, asking me what my name was, what chewing gum I liked ..... ticking off my answers on a sheet of paper. I have no recollection of that week. Might I have been a rocket scientist if not for that accident? Don't know, but I'm very grateful that I can do what I do without any assistance or seeing resentment in the faces of my caretakers every time they have to change my soiled clothing! I have a GOOD LIFE!!
