I have begun my horses in 3 piece with copper
roller snaffles to teach yield to pressure to flex laterally. Actually
began with knotted rope halters first then snaffle. But my young mare in
basic training immediately gets her tongue over bit. Also over french
snaffle. I bought a Chris Cox bit, the one with fixed d rings and standard
curved 2 piece snaffle. In using it with trained gelding, as the rein is
closed reward (direct pull), the snaffle actually v's down into the toungue, and
makes him gape mouth.
So I am working with a moderately heavy bosal and
wanted to know if training with bosal before snaffle will work with mare.
Or advise on bitting her? She has small but well built head (endurance
Arabian), and fat tongue. Squishes out the sides of her teeth. The
bosal bothers them when rein pressure is applied as the cheek pieces of the
bridle ride up to push on the eye. ugh
