I had a Theraflex pad for several years used it about five
times, switched and tried several other pads then sold the Theraflext when I
switched to the EquiPedic pad. I quit using the Theraflex for several reasons:
I was concerned about the
bladders getting a leak while out on a ride
No matter what is said about
the pad, there’s no way that heat or moisture can “evaporate”
or be wicked through an air bladder. If the air bladder is going to hold
air, it can’t let heat or moisture through.
The materials used in the pad
didn’t seem to move sweat away from the body very well (even in
areas where the air bladders weren’t)
When I really got to thinking
about how an air bladder responds to pressure by moving out of the way of
the pressure, I realized that the science behind the pad is, in my
opinion, flawed.
I ended up selling the pad on E-bay for about what I paid
for it. When I bought it, I got it at a substantially reduced price. I never
would have considered buying the pad at full price. As with other Parelli
products, I believe they are severely over-priced.
In addition to the Theraflex pad, I tried lots of different
pads (felt, coolback, merino wool, etc.). When I finally got to the EquiPedic,
my horse had the best, most even sweat pattern I had ever seen on him. I’m
thoroughly sold on the efficacy and quality of the EquiPedic.
