RE: [RC] [RC] Freezing temps at a ride - heidiI've put water buckets inside the horse area of the trailer onreally cold rides to keep them from freezing At REALLY cold rides, the horse area of the trailer will also freeze. We always carry at least 2 or 3 5-gallon jugs of water--and at cold rides, we just keep them inside the heated living quarters. Boiling a couple of quarts of water on the stove to add to a chilly bucket will also raise the temperature to luke-warm so that they will drink more. Horses often will refuse ice-cold water when they really do need to drink, so it is well worth the effort to heat some up for them.
