I went to Wisconsin for the Kettle Moraine 100, which was a designated ride for the points. I drove my 1976 Chevy truck, which had quite a few miles on it then. I was born and raised in Wisconsin, and have 3 brothers there. One of them is all about image and having the newest of everything. He actually made comments to me that "I had no business driving that old piece of s--- truck(12 years old) back there for a week because I was embarrassing him". I laughed at him and told him if he wanted to buy me a new Dodge with all the bells and whistles, fine. If not, he could shut up. He didn't pony up a dime. I have a 50 year high school class reunion coming in 2007 and I am actually thinking about driving that truck back to the reunion, just to get his dander up some more. Point being- who cares what distance you ride? Just go out and ride and enjoy yourself and your horse. BTW- the truck doesn't look great, but many riders know that it gets me where I want to go and I often am out somewhere with water for them when I am unable to ride for whatever reason. I will be providing water at the last vet check next weekend for Jerry Meyers NEDA ride, in fact. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
