RE: [RC] LD Rides - rules vs philosphy - Nancy MittsRules violations need to be addressed by the protest committee. Waving a red cape on ridecamp is not a necessary or beneficial part of that process. File your protest and let us know how it turns out.Differences in philosophy are another matter altogether. The current AERC rules try to walk a tightrope that allows ride managers the freedom to be true to their own philosophy on this matter of LD. This allows riders the freedom to choose rides that match their desires. If you can't find rides in your area that provide what you want, then you or some fellow believers will have to bite the bullet and manage your own rides, which sound as if they COULD be AERC sanctioned. If AERC is forced to accept ONE "winning" philosophy to the exclusion of others, the opposition will still be unhappy, no matter which way it goes. It should be clear by now that no one is going to CHANGE their own long held beliefs. The regions who have learned to co-exist on this even if they don't all agree are really, really, really, REALLY tired of this.
