RE: [RC] [RC] easyboot epics - Terry BanisterHi Tammy,Since we don't know how tight you have been using the gaiters, we don't know if that is the cause. However, now that you do have a small rub spot, it is best to give it a week or two to grow hair back before using boots, even with vetwrap. I am guessing that you are using the boots every time you ride, which should not be necessary. The horse should be able to go 8-9 miles barefoot. The purpose of the boots is to alternate with barefoot riding in order to prevent excess hoof wear between trims, and to prevent accidental injury during competition. If your horse is transitioning from shoes to barefoot, and the hooves are not toughened yet, now would be a good time to get that happening. Try riding barefoot a little further each timie and only using the boots for longer rides. If you have a competition coming up soon, use theh boots with vetwrap for the race. Remember that ultimately, you want to get to the point where you don't "need" boots, but only use them as a precaution for competition.
