RE: [RC] EN Drug Test Fee-to vet committee - Bob MorrisAngie: I am sorry but you have misplaced a decimal point. While it is just a simple little microscopic dot of ink it doers mean a great deal when analyzing the results. Pleas, when you go to school for teaching on Monday, have one of your students show you on the blackboard (if they still use them) how to multiply five times 20,860. If you reply to this message, it will go to all vet committee members. Feedback is desired about raising the drug test fee to $5.00 How many "entries" were there in AERC rides last year? Multiply that by $5. Is this problem this big...compared to loss of trails, etc. etc. etc.? Are we going to put as much money towards drug testing as everything else combined? (usual per rider fee) I looked at the 2003 yearbook. (can't find a newer one). We had 20,860 starters. If they all paid $5 more for drug testing that's $1,043,300. FOR DRUG TESTING??? Please, somebody tell me my math's screwed up. I'm in a hurry to go somewhere and for the life of me I can't imagine this being a number we're thinking about spending on drug testing. I definately vote "No" on the $5 fee. I would also be perfectly willing to have a "test on demand" program where if somebody just "chooses" to test my horse...rather than random testing, they're welcome to. Of the rides I've been to where they tested...I usually knew who they suspected, but that person NEVER got drawn for the random test. Testing randomly sure makes you have to test a lot of cases you don't care about.
