When Endurance riders say "tights" they usually mean those skin tight, revealing tights that are meant to be worn as riding pants. But don't forget that there are also "tights" as in "Danskin", et al. These "tights" can be worn under sweats or in summer under shorts. I've done both on 50's and they do a fine job of protecting you from chafing. Under sweats, no one will know you're not riding in just the sweats. Under shorts, lol, I'll admit they look a little dorky, but I never cared.

Every so often you can find this type of "tights" on special at Kmart or Target. Even not on special they are relatively inexpensive if you don't buy the big brand names like Danskin.
