[RC] Tevis Discussion, Here's a different question - Lucie HessI always love to follow the discussion regarding the Tevis. My first attempt 2 years ago, found me never even leaving the fairgrounds (after traveling all the way from Missouri) to go to Roby Park. <My horse had a major lameness caused by a shoeing mistake> But that's not the issue. There has always been such a "push" for folks to start in the "Front of the Pack", and others saying if you don't go out at least in the middle of the pack, you will not make your time cutoffs. For those of you experienced Tevis competitors, my question is.. Can you start in the very back of the group and still finish? I heard about the pile ups that ocurred at the ditch close to the start and other pileups at the bridges(meaning you couldn't get around the other horses and you had to wait, burning your time up). Would starting at the back of the pack reduce some of the waiting for the pile up to lessen? Just some middle of the Holiday musings..
