Well, I would be that "kill happy neighbor". Too
many cases of rabies being caused by skunks. NOT worth the risk to my family or
my animals. They can live out away from our house and animals, but if they
start coming too close, because they find an easy food source, like pet food
etc., then they will become deceased. I was told horses who become infected with
rabies are usually from a bite to the nose. They have their head down eating,
and said rabid animal comes over, tries to get food, and when horse does not
move, they bite on nose. So, we must decide is it worth that risk to have
them around because they are "so cute".
