My ex husband was a renowned skunk catcher in northern Wisconsin. He caught a skunk in someone's basement similar to your situation.
 
If you can grab them by the tail and lift their back feet up, they can't spray. They have to use their hind feet for leverage to release the spray.
 
He had a person scratching on a pan to make noise to get the skunk's attention. Then he snuck up on the skunk and grabbed it's tail. People were stationed at doors to quickly open them so he could get outside in a hurry. They took the skunk out to the woods and let it go.
 
He caught several problem skunks for people, including the feed mill where a skunk was trapped in the grain auger!

Hi everyone,

Sorry, but this is not endurance related, but...

I have a skunk living under my house.  I know this because while gardening,
I saw one of my dogs come out from under the house, then I smelled the
skunk.  Luckily, this time my dog didn't get sprayed.  She much have gotten
under the house on one side, and ran away from the skunk out another.

I don't need to mention what my house smells like right now...
And, of course, I am having a ton of people over for Christmas day dinner...

Any suggestions about getting the skunk to relocate would be appreciated.  
(We are new to country living and don't know the business end of a hammer.  
But are willing to learn.)
