Hi Folks: I also in the winter add it to the grain that I supplement their pasture with and Do feed with Molassas and Corn Oil.
 
This I have found especially in the cold and wet/frosty/snowy period that it will increase their desire to drink more water so that it will keep them from binding up.

I cringed when I read about free feeding supplements, too.  I have only
free fed salt.
