If you've looked through the AERC Convention program bound into your 
December Endurance News, you may have noticed that there is not going to 
be a Friday Night Dance this year.  It's been replaced by a concert.

I was very disappointed to see this.  The dance has always been one of 
the highlights of the Convention for me, and I believe for others as 
well.  It has been our best opportunity to mix, mingle, and meet people 
from all over the U.S. and Canada, many of whom we may have only read 
about before.  The camaraderie there was always wonderful, and most 
folks seemed to have a really good time.  It was our chance at the 
Convention to really "party down."

It's sad to see such nice old traditions passing, but I guess that's 
"progress."

I offered to introduce a motion on the Board of Directors to reinstate 
the dance this year, but there seems to be no interest in doing so.  I 
can only hope that the dance will be back in 2008.
