I used to breed TB mares. 2 of them reached a point
with their conformation that they required a caslicks to keep themselves clean.
The risk of loosing the foal was too great not to do it. Once pregnancy was
confirmed by ultrasound, the caslicks was put in & then removed a few weeks
before foaling. Never a problem for the mare, she got lidocane to put the
stitches in & then again to cut it open. It made it possible for me to breed
some awesome
mares.
