[RC] [RC] occupations - Daniela Desilets


I haven't done a ride yet, still learning! However, I am a Developmental Support Worker. I work with adults both in group homes and in the day program, plus I am a homesharer's relief (contract). After 6 years I am still on the "casual" list, although since I am trained for 4 different workplaces within the Association for Community Living I work pretty much full-time, sans benefits. The biggest benefit though is that as a "casual" staff, *I* decide when I am or am not available, and accept or decline shifts according to what suits me. That also applies to my contract - basically I get to choose all my shifts. I do work shiftwork, which also has a surprise benefit - I usually get to the boarding stable on "off times" and have the arena all to myself. :-)
