I used the coated wire a few years back on
one pasture, and have had an awful time with it. It was very hard to
install because you have to "chisel" away the plastic off the wire to put it in
the tensioner. I wasn't even strong enough to do it. My dh and dad
had to do it. Now the fence is totally sagging, because we have tightened
it as far as we can. If we tighten it any further, we would have to take
it out of the tensioners and chisel more plastic off the wire!
Most of my place now (5 acres) is
Intellirope II from Premier fencing. We just bought a 43 acre property,
and I'm planning on using the next step up, Endurasoft rope. I just got
some but haven't opened it up yet!
The Intellirope II is guaranteed to last 7
years, and the Endurasoft for 25 (comparable to the Electrobraid). Premier
used to sell their own version of Electrobraid, but discontinued it. I
guess they feel the Endurasoft is a superior product. I had help with
setting the posts, but I hung most of the fencing up myself.
I encourage you to check it
out!
(And no, I don't work for them lol. I
actually emailed Premier to see if they have any type of referral program,
because I recommend them so much. They told me no of
course!)
It seems that ElectroBraid? has the same break strength as high tensile
wire, but to me it looks like it would not hold as well as coated wire.
I would like to use the trees in my property instead of using posts as much
as possible.. I have some good corner/line trees that would hold the fence
ok.., but I was told that with wire.. it would not do good on line trees since
it is not totally straight and the wire would pull and break the insulators
and it would eventually sink into the bark..With the electrobraid, it
would have a webbing.. , so it may take longer...to sink into the bark...
So, the question boils down to which of the 2 fences you would use or
recommend... IF I need to put the posts I would do it.
