You will end up with a nicer product and won't have to worry about possibly introducing disease or scarring with your trees.My mother's neighbor used the pine trees around her yard as "posts" she put insulators and barbed wire up. In the last 10 years, many of the trees have died and needed to be removed. It is also rather unsightly and causes unnecessary damage to the trees. Just my opinion.
