Wendell rode the grey stallion Bandos on the first ride in 1955, but not the 
same Bandos that was the herd sire in Poland. Most pictures show Wendell on 
the dark stallion Siri who I believe died of poisoning   in the mid-1960s.

Siri was a chestnut stallion bred by Wendell Robie, foaled in 1958, and
sired by his stallion Bandos (as opposed to the Bandos that was the
Polish herd sire).  Siri won the Haggin Cup in 1965.  He is indeed
reported as having died in September of 1966.
