Re: [RC] Building Pens-?Advice on panels & soil prep? - Stacy SadarRegarding where to find the fabric.... Call local gravel yards or places that carry paving bricks....not a Lowes or Home Depot but more like "masonary systems" type company. When you talk to them, tell them you need the "black Soil Fabric used under roads/driveways." They usually sell it by the linear foot, but I'll be honest, it's cheaper to buy the whole roll. I paid $470 for the whole roll that's 400 or 500 feet long by 12 feet wide. I was only going to buy about a third of the roll and it would have cost me over $500 so I just took the whole thing this last roll I bought. It is definitly worth it! On our main driveway, I put down 1&2 size rock then 57 on top to fill in, then that 411 mix of crushed limestome...it locks it all down. I'm serious...you won't lose rock into the dirt at all. I have a friend who just uses crushed limestone in her
paddock but every year she has to add another 4-8 inches of it because it disappears into the dirt. Once things dry out around here, I'm going to drag the paddock flat, lay the fabric and put the limestone on top of it. It will keep it dry and drain much better. You know keep those mud cup hoof prints from filling up with water! Stacy Dixie <04rider@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:
