Years ago, when I was doing a lot of running and marathons (yes, if you
look at me now you would never believe it) I was asked by a friend how I had
"done". I told him I had a "good time" meaning I laughed, talked, high
fived all the kids, danced with the police, even did the beer stop at mile 23
which, of course, almost dropped me to my knees. He, however, could not
get past the reality that it had taken me all damn day to finish the thing and
that I had not, in fact, had a "good time" chronologically. Some people
will always have the goal of placing well and winning awards, and
some will always gauge by their "good time, and sometimes, you even get
both.
