[RC] camping and generators - Alice YovichMy daughter and some other kids had a time like this at a recent NATRC ride. I"m not so sure that the other competitors and families very put out with our muddy, creek bound children, but they had a blast. After reading about it here, I got that book Last child in the woods and I so agree with many of the things in it. I'm appalled that kids are reined in so much...my daughter has so much homework she doesn't have time to play if there were a good place to do it. It's enough to drive me back to homeschooling! Angie wrote: When my kids went to rides they ran around with other kids, played in creeks, caught "pet salamanders", had syringe water fights, and played glow-stick football. I see people show up now with plump little pink urchins who slowly walk from their heated campers complete with satellite TV, to the meal never taking their eyes off their Gameboys, then without speaking to anyone go back into their cocoons never to be seen again. It's a cryin' shame.
