[RC] camping and generators Don't be haters - rides2far. I > made my family sleep in a tent in below freezing weather more than once. What was I thinking???? My kids were so tiny!!!! I would never in a million years put my kids through that again. Ha. Josie went to her first ride at 10 days old. My kids have camped at rides their entire lives, never had anything more than a fire or a propane burner to warm up by. They've never gotten sick at a ride, seldom get sick at all. Josie has *never* been on antibiotics *at all*, I tried them with Bonnie when she was tiny for something trivial (typical doctor prescribing them for every little sniffle) and she puked them so never had them again. Neither has ever had strep throat, tonsillitis, ear infections or any of the usual stuff that the kids who carry jumbo bottles of hand sanitizer in their purses seem to have twice a year. When my kids went to rides they ran around with other kids, played in creeks, caught "pet salamanders", had syringe water fights, and played glow-stick football. I see people show up now with plump little pink urchins who slowly walk from their heated campers complete with satellite TV, to the meal never taking their eyes off their Gameboys, then without speaking to anyone go back into their cocoons never to be seen again. It's a cryin' shame. Eventually, I may have a living quarters, *maybe* someday it will get insulation, then it might help to turn on the heat in the morning...but I don't think I'll ever get to the point that I'd think I had to run it all night. If I need that, it's too cold for me to ride anyway. Angie =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
