Re: [RC] Compact Digital Camera for the Trail? - Diane TrefethenAnother possibility is using a camera phone. These generally produce lower quality pictures (even those touted as "mega pixel") but they are built to "take a lickin' and keep on pict'in" (sorry Timex [bg]). If you opt for a camera phone, thus killing the proverbial two birds, you can buy special optical-encoding software to improve the picture quality after the fact. Here is a link that discusses the issues:http://www.about-nokia.com/imaging/camera-phone.php Mind you, all I know about these new-fangled cellular products is what I read. MY cell phone weighs in at about 10 oz, is an inch thick, was discontinued about 4 years ago and is so primitive its only special feature is that it has two ring tones. He did his consumer reports type search and said he couldn't find any good ones for around $100 or less. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
