Re: [RC] Paddock Paradise - rides2far@xxxxxxxxbook "Paddock Paradise" and I had a great epiphany while reading it. In a nutshell, you create fenced 'paths' around the perimeter of your property or pastures, of whatever you can work out with your land layout, and it allows your horses to move along them at will, Wouldn't it be easier to just get an Australian Shepherd that's bad to run stock? >g< Honestly though, I'd be leary of any area that confined my horses tight enough that there's not an obvious route for escape when two decide to take a dive at the third. You'd probably drool over my place. It's about 4 acres on the side of a long steep cherty hill with a little grass at the bottom and the water source at the top. The primary souces of motivation for self conditioning, other than going for a drink are high winds, fireworks, or a loose Emu or pot bellied pig outside the fence. It's a pain to arrange for things like that to show up regularly though. :-) My horses do use paths that they've made in the field. They all decide to take a trip from the front left of the field to the right rear to visit the pond, and line up according to seniority as they walk. After that journey, they angle across the hillside and back to the front. Funny, when they're walking, they always stay on low ground. When they have a running fit, they always include running up the hill, shooting off the bank and flying down the other side. Scares me to death.
