[RC] ariat terrains vs ariat dumas - shermanHave you ever tried the Roper Athletic Horseshoes? They're inexpensive, but for my narrow foot they are a very good fit. They do have nice ankle support. I hiked 7 miles in them when my horse got injured this year at Tevis. I've tried Ariats many times, and never found a pair that was comfortable, too wide for my foot. The Ropers do have a "break-in" time to get the bulkiness out of one spot on the tongue, but not too long, and while it's annoying in that little spot for about a week, it does not cause any soreness, at least for me. Kathy Kristi wrote: I have both types, and they have their pros and cons for me. The Terrains are really too wide for me and I'll get sore toes from my feet moving around and bumping the front if I walk in them a lot. But to just 'ride', I like them ok. The Dumas have a lot of breathability (flip side of that is that your socks get DIRTY). BUT, like Heidi, I found them to not offer enough ankle support while feeling kinda unstable. In fact, I severely twisted my ankle in them a few months ago while tailing my horse down a hill so now I'm paranoid to wear them. So, I'm on a search for a lightweight pair of riding friendly ankle supporting boots/shoes. I need a fairly narrow heel and a wide toe box. Anyone have any suggestions? I'd love to wear my Ariat Cascades (workboots) for distance riding but the weight is a bit much if I do any walking (which I do)...
