motor grease that mechanics use. We just plastered it on really thick and it
worked ok.

The problem is more severe with the horses that are shod. This morning when I went out to feed one of my horses had a ball of ice about the size of a small grapefruit under his left front and a baseball size ball under his right front. I took a hammer and screwdriver and chipped it away. I've been having disaster fantasies about what would go wrong if something spooked the horses and they tried to run on stilts. I had problems with ice last year and tried spraying with Pam but it didn't work. I've been considering trying lard or even Corona because it is sticky. I would appreciate if anyone who has experienced this problem and solved it would let me know your trick/tip. Thanks, Bob
