Back in the mid 80s I was in a neck and neck "race" for first place in the Oregon Trail 50 miler on South Pass.? My original endurance horse, Clouds Peak Ata, was very attuned to my excitement level and my voice.? Finally, at a vet check where pulsing down was critical and we were having problems, my husband rightly said, "Every time you start talking or he sees you, his pulse shoots up.? So shut up and go away."? (Yes, we're still married :)? He covered Ata's eyes with a towel and I left that area.? Ata pulsed down right away.? Sometimes husbands are brilliant.? BTW, we won that ride by a neck.??
On the pants crawling, etc.? I LOVE my Ariat Terrain half-chaps.? They breathe wonderfully and are so comfortable.? I wear some variation of Ariat Terrains if I'm going to spend most of the time in the saddle.? If it's a ride where I'll be off a lot, I prefer trail running shoes with?aggressive tread like .? I always use EZ Ride stirrups with solid safety cages.? My newest winter riding apparel acquisition that I LOVE is my new winter?polar-fleece chaps.? Cindy
