To clarify my previous messages regarding opening
gates, I NEVER open a wire gate from horseback. I have nightmare visions
of having my horse step into the wire and being shredded. It's only metal
gates on hinges that I would open while mounted, and they would have to have a
latch I could reach safely. The whole situation would have to look SAFE or
I would never do it while mounted.
That's great that your horses do that, however,
how would you do that with a 3-strand barbwire stretch gate? Not just trying
to be a smatr a$$ here, though I do ride a few. Not all gates are doible from
horse/muleback.
If I had a horse that wouldn't
open a gate and stand there nice and hold it for a dozen horses if need be
WHILE I'M MOUNTED, I'd be doing some serious training before I left
home or finding another
horse!
