[RC] First 25 mile ride - Tx TriggerMy question is this, my Arab tends to be pretty high strung, and while I have ridden her with groups of horses a lot, is she going to go beserk on me at an endurance ride? <<< I'd put some money on it, that the horse you put in the trailer at home, will probably not be the same one at the ride start. Happens to most of us, especially in the first few rides. Often the fist ride goes better than the 3rd or 4th, as they start to get the idea of what is happening. I'd let the main group of riders leave, and then head out towards the back, at a casual pace like you train at, and work on keeping the horse focused on YOU, and the speed/pace YOU want to go. If she does fight you, try not to give in, and let her charge at the speed she wants. I'm one to ask my horse to walk out of camp at rides, as I ride towards the mid to back of the pack, so I don't "need" him to go quickly. And Wickenburg would be a beautiful ride to do, I'm sure. Rode there many years ago on a NATRC ride and loved the area. Go have fun....
