Re: FW: [RC] FEI Championships - rides2farAlong with this, I'm concerned that the pendulum can swing too far -- > that being too quick to put a horse on an IV just to make him feel better or rehydrate more quickly may not actually be a good thing. An > IV is an invasive treatment, after all. I'm curious as to how many horses lose the use of a jugular from scarring from an IV. I know of three right off the top of my head...Desert Ballad lost one when he was being treated for that awful infection he got in his hip, then went on to win the ROC with just one. I know of another rider who retired her 100 mile horse rather than risk him losing the one he had left, and a third that went on to do 100's with one jugular. Is this that a common enough occurance to consider when they're being so quick to treat marginal horses?
