When we were thinking of names for her, I reached for the Egyptian grammar on the back of our bed, and opened it at random to the page w/ that name. We (I+my husband, who reads hieroglyphics) pronounce it "HAH pee." Our Egyptian friend pronounces it "HAH-bee" The "p" is more of a "b" sound. It looks as if it would be pronounced "happy." So kind of a double-entendre. It would make a good name for a horse, too.
