Re: [RC] [RC] Question for you with turtle - Peter HarperDawn, We won't be at Lone Star over Thanksgiving but we'll be at High Roller over New Years. You'll have some tough competition, last year I turtle both days; the 50 on Saturday and the 25LD on Sunday. On Saturday Lucky, me and a woman we met on the last loop finished three across holding hands with 20 mins to spare. We took pity on the poor woman who was doing her first 50 on a leased horse from DBJ. The horse looked terrific but the poor woman was not "fit to continue". There is something to be said for training your own horse; you get yourself in shape as well. On Sunday I was riding my daughter's gelding and this guy is sloooow. We ran the last 2 two miles barely made it into the P&R on time. Bring it on girl! ;-) Pete --- Dawn Carrie <rdcarrie@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:Whew, that was a hard-won Turtle Award!!! Pete is one tough opponent! I had to wait and circle my horse right before the finish line until he crossed. It can be pretty cut-throat here inTexasfor turtle. That one (Meanwhile Back at the Ranch) was my second in a row...I "won" my third consecutive turtle award at my next ride, whichwasmy first 100 (Bluebonnet). Fate intervened and a lost frontshoecost me a fourth turtle at Old Glory, breaking what was shaping up to be a nice run. Here's warning you Pete...I'll be riding a newhorsein the 50 day 1 at Lone Star this weekend, so if you're there, you'dbetterbe in fightin' form for Turtle! <VBG> Dawn Carrie On 11/20/06, Peter Harper <peteharper1@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:Date: Mon, 20 Nov 2006 13:00:22 -0800 (PST) From: Peter Harper <peteharper1@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: [RC] Question for you withturtleTo: ridecamp-digest@xxxxxxxxxxxxxAs a two time Turtle Award winner this pastseasonIcan speak to this question with some authority.Itwould have been three but Dawn Carrie waited forme atthe finish in order to claim this prestigiousaward. How was the message from the Meanwhile RideDawn?;-)Cheers, Pete in TX ____________________________________________________________________________________ Sponsored Link Mortgage rates near 39yr lows. $310k for $999/mo.
