Is Gastroguard available thru mail order? I have no problem getting meds into the donkey. He will eat anything inside a small PB&J sandwich! ;-) My horse has been on/off of bute for a year and a half now for chronic problems, and most recently on some very high dose Bute/Banamine/Ace for laminitis 5 times! Ulcerguard is avaliable over the counter. 1 tube is 4 1200lb doses. ;) Gastroguard is avaliable from your vet and one tube is 1 1200lb dose. The little guys are so much cheaper to treat! Alfalfa worked very well for my mare's ulcers, but ultimately ended up being a factor in her laminitis. There is a GastroEase supplement from KV Vet that I use and it seems to keep her in okay shape. I give it with her Bute every dose and give the Ulcerguard every day when she's on Bute.
