Re: [RC] places to ride in NE TX - Peter HarperFrom: Mary Ann Spencer <maryann.spencer@xxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Anyone know of places to go riding in NE TX, perhaps Tyler area? Places to go horse camping would be great. Thanks. --------------------------------------------------- Mary Ann, Depending on how far you want to travel here are a couple of ideas. Cooper Lake near Commerce, TX is a Corp of Engineers Lake and has 18 miles of trails along the shore and places to camp. The lake is real low with the drought. Trinity Trail along the Lake Levon offers 9 miles of nice easy trails but no over night camping. We live 3 miles from the trail head. LBJ Grasslands is one of my favorites. Over 100 miles of marked trails and primitive camping. I can't forget Ray Roberts which is a popular place for Endurance training. I always manage to meet someone I know on the trail. There is overnight camping at Bluestem Campground. If you want to do a little more driving Bar 50 Ranch in central AR is a great place to ride. They offer sites with full electrical, water, sewer hook ups and pens for the horses. Or you can stay in the bed n barn. Here are two links that will give you more complete descriptions and reviews of the different trails. http://www.horsetraildirectory.com/Nov05_selector_results.asp?State=TX&desc=Texas&unit=state http://www.manyblessings.net/Trails/Texas%20Trails/ Cheers, Pete in TX ____________________________________________________________________________________ Sponsored Link Degrees online in as fast as 1 Yr MBA, Bachelor's, Master's, Assoc http://yahoo.degrees.info =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
