When we were in the UK, we read about a problem they were having with the dissappearance of some beautiful wild flowers. They were decrying the fact that changes in farming practices and possibly climate were making them into "endangered species". The interesting thing, to me, was that a followup article, mentioned that these "wild flowers" had been brought to England by the Romans for their gardens. Apparently, 2000 years is enough time to change an "invasive weed" into an "endangered wild flower". In all fairness, these plants are not particularly toxic, and do not tend to take over whole areas to the exclusion of other plants.
