[RC] Weed Free - Bruce Weary DCThere may be something to the idea that viable plant seeds can be spread in manure. Apparently, it's common for tomato plants to grow and thrive in sewage, as the seeds often survive the human digestive tract. And I have seen certain horse feeds certified as "weed free" presumably because the pelleting, grinding or cubing process kills the seeds. I'm guessing this means the digestive tract of the horse doesn't always kill the seeds. I still think the extent to which horses may spread seeds is minimal compared to all the other avenues of seed migration. Like, oh yeah, the WIND? Dr Q who, after his recent physical, was declared "weed free." (Incidentally, back in the 60's, a farmer apparently hung a sign next to his hay field that said "Weed Free." He said a buncha hippies called him for weeks asking him how they could get some. Silly people.)=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
