[RC] Magnesium/Deficiency - Barb Peck

If your trainer has done a nutritional analysis on your horses diet- and that's
how he's come to that conclusion- then he's right.. and you should supplement
what the diet is lacking. This assumes a hay analysis- and total diet
analysis.......and that he knows what macro and micro nutrients a horse should
be getting and in what ratios..

I live in the NE. I have my have anyalsed each year. And I have to supplement
magnesium quite often.
(actually each horse gets about 8 grams per day mixed in with the pellets
becuase that's what the diet is lacking this year.).

So bottom line- if he's done his homework and that's what the horse needs- then
give it to him.. but if he's basing it on some subjective observation - then
don't do it. You really have to be somewhat knowledgable if you are going to
start adding additional single elements to the horses diet.

That's my 5 cents.
