Patti, I've had mild scurfing issues in the past. I was really holding my breath at Spook Run after reading your earlier post about heat build up. I use an Equipedic pad (washed for the first time before Spook Run per manufacturers instructions) and a Barefoot Treeless saddle. You know I'm no lightweight (a very heavy middleweight) and Kirby also has very tender skin. He can't stand to be brushed after most rides for a couple of days. Rub downs with terrycloth are all he gets. I never took the saddle off of his back at Spook Run. It was chilly, I had no crew, and it just seemed more prudent not to let his back chill.

I kept watching for scurfing for hours and days post ride. NONE. I couldn't believe it!  Bottom line....I don't know why Kirby didn't scurf any more than you know why Ned did. Aren't I a big help.
