Re: [RC] Coming Off and Helmets - Ed & Wendy HauserThe one and only time I rode without glasses, I got a twig in the eye and bingo, corneal abbrasion. One should remember, that there are different strength and retention requirements for ordinary eyeglasses . Eyeglasses that meet the industrial safety glass standards are available in normal styles, and at normal dispensing opticians. I always had problems with my eyeglasses slipping down my nose when riding at speed. I eventually purchased a set of sports goggles (like sold for basketball and squash players), with self darkening lenses. They work great. Yes, there are tales of safety glasses causing a problem. I had an industrial eye incident (lawyers do not like reports that use the words "accident" or "violation" (we had to report safety "findings", not "rule violations")) caused by safety glasses. But they do prevent lots more injuries than they cause. If you don't believe, I'll show you the scars on my horse riding goggles caused by twigs.
