Re: [RC] [RC] What do you think when you are coming off? - Ravenmy worst "came off" story, happen about 4 years ago. when i was riding Wizard, a few months after he had lost his vision. ya know those trail markers, they are made of flat fiberglass...maybe 4 inches wide and stuck in the ground. anywho, wizard went by one, swished his tail, the tail got stuck on the trail marker. he walked forward as he shook his tail, this caused the marker to slap Wizard very hard on his butt. HE FREAKED OUT. he bolted, straight ahead off the trail, towards a telephone pole, a big tree and the very narrow gap between them. I knew that i was gonna get hurt. I tried to do a one rein stop, I tried to turn him...nothing worked. at the last minute, he zigged and i zagged. i hit the ground so hard....sliding towards the telephone pole, as Wizard kept going. my only thought was "crap, i'm going to need new teeth and plastic surgery!". i ended up about four feet from the pole, and man, i'm so glad i didn't hit it. btw...wizard was retired about a month later, after another near death ride. raven =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
