I heard this same information out of the mouth of my vet a couple of weeks
ago.  We think our 20 yo Appy mare may have an ulcer (no pain, but she
'burps' a lot), so he suggested feeding a bit of Alfalfa to her.  I've done
quite a bit of reading on Alfalfa, so won't feed any more than the
recommended "no more than 1/3rd of their daily hay ration."
