I've been using MAILWASHER for the last 4 years to get rid of Spam. The beauty 
of it is that you can see your e-mails before downloading them to your 
computer, and have the spam messages bounced back to the spammers. After a 
couple of bounces they think that your e-mail is not active and stop sending 
messages to you.

There's other ways to do it, but images are one of the easier. Another way
is if you actually click on the link. They sometimes see if you'll send them
a read receipt.

I get tons of spam, too. I've had this e-mail address since about 1994. I'd
try a different filter. I just use regular Outlook set to only put mail in
my Inbox from people in my contacts, or who I've said I trust. I still have
to root through the spam (for example, if you reply, your reply will end up
mixed in the spam), but the mail I really want for sure is easy to find.

       Is an image really required for the spammer to know that they "hit"
a valid e-mail address?  
        
       I get a lot of spam, because I have an internet ad, but none of the
filters work -- what happens is that most of the spam still comes through,
and the *real* e-mails that I want are filtered out.
