[RC] Training Rides - rides2far

I am a believer that your horse must be able to go farther than
anticipated

If you're traveling aerobically, seems like your horse ought to be able
to go indefinately, so long as there's no time limit. If I was off trail
at 45 miles with 15 to go back I'd just let him eat, rest if he needed to
and then keep going.

My daily training doesn't change that much for a 100, but for the 100 I
do 50 mile training rides. They're called competitions. After some 50
mile competitions, my horse is conditioned for the 100. I am very big on
scheduling REST. A horse does not improve during exercise. He improves
because of exercise...but he does it on his off day!
