[RC] Alert for horse owners - Fay Kelleyforward:ALERT TO ALL HORSE OWNERS!!!!!! !! Last weekend after leaving the NBHA jackpot at Jack Brooks Park in Hitchcock, Mike & Jaci Berberich, Sharon Stevens & the Humphrey girls (Jody, Jessica, & Jasmine) went to Gringo's Mexican restaurant to eat dinner before heading home. This happened at approx. 8-8:30 pm. This was in the parking area between Mall Of The Mainland & Gringo's right across I45 from Gulf Greyhound Dog Track. One horse was left tied to the side of their trailer. It is suspected , this was because this horse had an identifying brand. Someone STOLE "Lady Bug" out of the Humphrey's trailer!!!!! !!! Mike took off on foot & some how found her tied way out behind some trees. It is suspected that the thief was coming back with a truck & trailer to get her. She was the only horse without a brand. The mare is fine and back with her owner...but what a scary ordeal!!!! The crooks also tried to break into the tack compartment of their 6 horse trailer & had messed with the back door of their trailer as well. All horse owners PLEASE be alert to this type of crime and take all necessary precautions to prevent it happening to any of us again!!!!! We will be on the look out for anyone that may have seen something, knows something, or whatever...send this out to all of your horse friends!!!!! ! Shelley G.
