RE: [RC] winner of Asgard Arabian - Century club - Libby & Quentin Llop DVM
The
dressage assn. has an award for horse and rider pairs whose total ages adds up
to at least 100, that complete a dressage test in a recognized
competition.

What a fantastic accomplishment for one and all. I am
so pleased to see how many people are out there with older horses giving
them a job. Thank you, Charles, for posting this accomplishment.
This encourages me to get some of my old guys off their pasture
bound hooves and do something more with them. :) Samburu
KA does a 5 mile trek every few days he is now 26 but has the heart of a 5
year old. LOL!
We sent Sammy out at 19 to Denny Hansen and had him shown english
pleasure, hunt seat, and halter - just for the fun and kicks of it.
Sammy was one of last of Klee's Arabians show horses before Ken Klee
died. I'll be damned if Sammy didn't clean up in two of the classes and
win a couple of coolers (which Keith thought "nice a couple of drink coolers -
umm Keith they are for the horse not you!) So, now maybe Sammy deserves
a chance to do a 25 LD. What do you all think all of you 'experienced'
endurance people? Is there a ride that Sammy might be okay to take on
given his age and relative low riding miles during the week?
Anyone else have any older horses that they might think about taking
out? Which brings me to a thought. Maybe we should have
a geriatric endurance competition. Seriously, and maybe there is a
veterans class???

I tried to post this once so it may be a repeat. George
Ligler won the gelding his wife Fran rode the 50 and finished.
Hawk may be the oldest horse to complete the 100(alos he had
no pads on) he is 18 right behind us was Di-ni-mo Donna Greens horse who is
17. Wendy Mancinis QH is 23 I believe. mary
